Traveller Encampment

Last month LandSheriffs and Ebbsfleet BTP officers attended Crismill signal box following reports that travellers had gained unauthorised access to CTRL land.
On arrival LandSheriffs teams discovered five caravans, several 4x4 vehicles and
vans along with a number of travellers, all of whom insisted they were going to a wedding in Chatham.
In order to prevent any further groups of travellers joining, LandSheriffs & Police vehicles were positioned to block access to the area.
The travellers were moved on in under an hour and a half, with no damage being caused in the process.
Insp Downs said: “The co-ordinated approach coupled with joint working among the various parties resulted in a swift and efficient response to a tricky situation. The operation also re-enforced the strong message that the High Speed 1 line is robustly policed and that criminality will be dealt with quickly.”
Graffiti Crackdown

LandSheriffs have helped in the apprehension of a persistent Graffiti vandal. He was first caught at the Averly Viaduct vandalising CTRL property and was soon linked to defacing various stationary properties in Purfleet between April and June this year including fencing, walls, playgrounds, postboxes, to name a few, with his tags - ARON and 2BAD.
LandSheriffs helped document the graffiti damage and submitted photographic and written evidence to DC Mike Ganly, investigating officer, that went into the file containing 135 statements and photographs that lead led to the Crown Prosecution Service authorising the charges.
“The successful outcome of this investigation can only be attributed to the professionalism and efficiency of all those involved,” said DC Ganly.
“The close working and cooperation between BTP, Essex Police, Network Rail (CTRL), LandSheriff Security, c2c, National Express, and the communities they serve, has resulted in this youth, a prolific offender, being brought to justice.” The boy recently appeared at court and received a Referral Order for his offences.
Fly Tipping

LandSheriffs recently responded to an emergency call from HS1 Management to a suspected active fly tip happening at the Essex Portal. Teams were immediately scrambled to the location and on arrival noticed suspicious mounds of earth and a JCB Digger and two lorries on the site.
The site ganger digger & lorry drivers was challenged by LandSheriffs personnel and they told them that he had permission from the land owner, knowing this was not the case LandSheriffs vehicles were used to block their exit from the site. The suspects were informed that they were trespassing & under arrest on the suspicion of trespass and fly tipping of illegal waste on a site owned by HS1 and that they where to be held and their vehicles were being seized until British Transport Police & the Environment Agency arrived to take charge of the incident.
LandSheriffs field personnel kept EMMIS, BTP, Essex Police and HS1 Senior Management informed whilst managing the situation throughout. Once the BTP arrived with the Environmental Agency the LandSheriffs team had completely secured the site and had started to gather evidence and thoroughly photographed the scene to help with any future prosecution.
